The Four Courts and Mendicity Institution Easter Week 1916, A Biographical Dictionary by Jimmy Wren

Copies of Jimmy Wren's book on the Four Courts and Mendicity Institution Garrisons in 1916 are now available to purchase online from The Village Bookshop in Terenure, Dublin. This book uniquely provides biographies of all those who fought in the Four Courts and Mendicity Garrisons in 1916 accompanied in many cases by pen and ink drawings of the participants based on photographs provided by relatives and available from newspaper. It is lasting testament to the men and women who believed and fought for Irish independence in the 1916 Rising. Please click here for further information:

There as an informal launch of the book on Saturday 17 December in the Cobblestone Pub in Smithfield. The event was introduced by Four Courts relatives Councillor Nial Ring and Úna MacNulty and included a brief history of the fighting in the Four Courts by Ciarán Holahan, a speech by artist Robert Ballagh to officially launch the book followed by some words of thanks from the author Jimmy Wren. As states in the speech, all of the Four Courts and Mendicity Institution Garrison relatives are very grateful to Jimmy Wren for the dedication and work he put in to researching and publishing this book.
