To promote wider public understanding of Easter Rebellion participants and events

  • Build resources to ensure Garrison specific information availability

  • Work with book authors, journalist

 

To educate relatives on events and resources concerning 1916

  • Promote Bureau of Military History as resource for relatives. Have book lists, book reviews, article links, web links to appropriate resources.

  • Establish mail lists (in conjunction with 1916 relatives association).

 

To promote relatives to share their private photos, articles, stories

  • Encourage online posting

  • Develop physical meeting to encourage informal exhibition and promotion of scanning & transcription of family memorabilia.

 

 

GARRISON COMMEMORATION 

VISION, MISSION, VALUES & GOALS

 

 

Background

Around 2,500 people took part in the Easter Rising. As we approach the centenary of 1916, the relatives of these men and women are looking for a way to appropriately learn, share and commemorate the events of that week.

 

Vision

Proper commemoration of the 1916 Easter Rising events & participants

 

Mission

We will create an inclusive, non-political & focused association that encourages understanding of the events of 1916 and that develops and supports the centenary commemorations.

 

Core Values

  • We recognise of the Easter Rising as the seminal event in the independence of Ireland

  • We focus exclusively on the build up to Easter 1916 and its immediate aftermath

  • We are respectful to participants on all sides

  • We will honour the people who fought for Irish Freedom in the Easter Rising

  • We are non-political and are not involved in commentary on current events or historical events after 1916

  • We will work with the government & institutions of Ireland to develop our Mission

 

Goals
