Easter Monday 2016

Easter Monday 2016 saw the Four Courts Garrison relatives gather to commemorate the centenary of the Rising. Thanks to all those who came along to the Tóstal Na nGaolta at the Morrison Hotel and to the wreath laying ceremony at the Four Courts itself. It was fitting that we were brought together to remember our relatives who set out bravely one hundred years ago to fight for our independence. Below are links to the video recording, speeches and some photos of the event.

"...let us pay tribute to the Volunteers, the officers and the men and women of the Four Courts Garrison, to those who fell in this area, and to those who died at the hands of the firing squads. To these and to all who fought for their country in that week of proud memory, may I say on behalf of all of us here: Ireland remembers you."

- from Keynote address by Una MacNulty

"Your forebears take their place in the annals of Irish history, at the birth of our fledgling nation. We honour them today. We remember, above all, their courage, their vision and their self sacrifice."

- from speech by Minister Frances Fitzgerald
